When brainstorming ideas for my first article on the Business Blog, the first thought that came to mind was Mert. This blog post is very lighthearted and simple, and it's about Mert Ozturk. So, buckle up for a fun story on Mert and his life advice.
Mert.
The most wholesome human to exist.
A sentence that practically wraps up who Mert is, he is genuinely the most wholesome person to exist. He is an incredible friend, was the most amazing floormate, and the first person I ever spoke to at UBC.

On September 3rd, 2021, my parents dropped me off at my dorm with all my stuff, took me to dinner, and then left me for my first night alone at my huge campus. I honestly was so confused about what to do after they left. I wanted to go out to my first uni party, but I remember feeling so nervous to go out by myself, to all new faces. So, I put on my most comfy outfit, pulled out my speaker from my suitcase and blasted some music, thinking I had the most soundproof walls to exist (definitely not the case). I started unpacking all my stuff and 15 minutes later my room was in chaos. Then, I get a knock on my door and It’s 2 of my floormates, and of course one of them is Mert. They basically knocked on my door because they could hear the music in the hall and wanted to say hello to their fellow neighbour. But all I remember from our short conversation is that it felt incredibly awkward. After they left, I called my mom and told her about how incredibly random and awkward I was at the door, but my mom told me I was being dramatic, and then I continued unpacking. Butttttt move forward a couple of months, and Mert is one of the most amazing friends to exist, and the awkwardness disappeared (I think our mutual love for Justin Bieber helped).
I truly think Mert is a very special individual, and I think everyone should know about how cool Mert truly is. So to give a quick rundown, Mert Ozturk is from Istanbul Turkey (he also takes a lot of pride in being Turkish, like this guy loves his donair). Mert is also a Sauder Business Baddie, goes to UBC cause his dad told him to apply, loves sandwiches, hates vegetables and is the most outgoing individual to exist. And when I say he is outgoing, he is insanely outgoing, like I swear everyone in our residence building with over 500 students probably knew who Mert was, because he treated everyone with crazy respect, kindness and slight insults. If you need a wing woman, Mert would be the guy to call for help. Basically, Mert is a guy who knows how to truly be a good friend, because he values everyone in his life with the highest regard.
Being friends with Mert means constant check-ins, life updates, knocks on your door to say goodnight, frequent reminders of how appreciated you are, random vlogs, and lengthy WhatsApp audio messages. He's a friend who will always be there for you. If I ever needed help, advice or someone to rant to, I always knew I could knock on Mert's door, and he would be down to listen. He is an amazing lad because he knows how to make someone feel special, and I think we can all learn from Mert's actions. Mert makes me strive to be a better friend.

But, the main point of this blog post is to provide you with some life advice from Mert, cause he definitely has some good things to share. So his life advice is listed below:
Love yourself
Finding and practicing peace makes it easier to love everything else in life
Always talk to someone about your feelings if you are sad, it typically helps
Mert’s explanations are fairly limited, but simplicity goes a long way.
Anyways, I hope anyone reading enjoyed this mini post on Mert. The most wholesome person to exist.
